Silent Snow

Music &Lyrics by Zou Taoran

Once more snow falls in silence

Covering all the fissures of this clamorous world

Winter has too much to bury

So let my footprints fade into the distance

Whispering I was here

Let’s set out along a frozen river

Beneath the calm undercurrents have thawed

It holds the entire blue of the sky

And stardust frozen like first encounters

Taking root in silence

O silent snow polishing time bright

Two distant trees clad in the same silver guise

Across the river gazing into each other’s reflection

Finding peace within their solitude

Return to hours when the wind slows

The quieter the wilderness the vaster it grows

One tree and the whole forest become time

O silent snow stretching years long

Those labored steps form lines through wind and snow

Deep and shallow entwined

Yet always toward the direction of spring

Silent snow rests upon my shoulders

Silent river flows through dawn and dusk

Each step a prologue

When the snow melts the whole spring sun will appear
